Palampur, December 13, 2024:
A tragic incident was reported today near Menjha bridge, close to Palampur in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. The local police station received information about a person lying motionless in the area. Acting on the tip-off, Head Constable Rajesh Kumar, along with a police team, reached the spot for verification.

Upon arrival, the police discovered the body of a man lying on his back approximately 30 meters below the Menjha bridge on a steep slope near the ravine. The area showed signs of disturbance, with broken bushes and bloodstains along the slope, suggesting the man had fallen from a height.

Identification of the Deceased

The deceased was identified as Monu alias Man Singh, a 29-year-old resident of Nyagran village in Tehsil Holi, Himachal Pradesh. His identity was confirmed on the spot by his mother, Simro Devi, and sister, Rachna Devi, who were called to the scene.

Family’s Account

Monu worked as a daily wage laborer and also cooked food at wedding functions. On December 9, 2024, Monu had dinner with his mother before informing her that he was going to visit his sister, Rachna Devi, who resides in Jandpur. However, he never reached there and instead visited his friend, Nagin Chand, in Menjha.

When Monu did not return to his rented quarter in Nouri or contact his family, they assumed he had traveled to Chamba for work. The family has stated they have no suspicions regarding his death, as Monu had no known enmities.

Police Investigation

Statements from Monu’s mother, sister, and other relatives have been recorded. Preliminary evidence suggests the death was accidental, caused by a fall down the steep slope. Bloodstains and broken vegetation along the slope support this theory.

The police have registered the case and initiated proceedings under Section 194 BNSS. Further investigations are underway, and updates will follow as the case develops.
