Sanjay Kundu, the former DGP of Himachal Pradesh, retired yesterday after a tenure that garnered significant attention. Today, the Himachal Pradesh government appointed IPS Atul Verma as the new DGP, entrusting him with command.

Dr Atul Verma, a 1991-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, was appointed the new director general of police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. Verma was serving as the director general (CID).

Today Verma’s appointment orders were issued by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena.Sources said that the orders were issued after obtaining permission from the Election Commission of India
