TctPalampur Forest Division Concludes Monsoon Plantation Drive; 150 Hectares Greened with Active Community Involvement

PALAMPUR: (bksood ,CE TCT )The Himachal Pradesh Forest Department has successfully concluded its monsoon plantation drive for the current season, achieving an overall plantation coverage of 150 hectares (ha) across the Palampur Forest Division.
Out of the total target, 89 hectares were planted through departmental efforts, under which approximately 80,000 saplings of mixed and indigenous species were established to strengthen local forest ecology and catchment areas.
In a major push toward participatory forest management, the remaining 61 hectares were greened under the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s flagship initiative, the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana. The plantation work under this scheme was executed at the grassroots level by local Mahila Mandals and Yuvak Mandals across various beats and ranges of the division, including sites such as:
* Bandla, Ghanetta (Palampur Range)
* Baggidhar and Uttrala (Baijnath Range)
* Samlat Tarehla (Jaisinghpur Range)
* Bir and Swar (Bir Range)
* Ban Kurang and Saidoon (Daroh Range)
Direct financial incentives are being disbursed to the participating Mahila and Yuvak Mandals for carrying out the plantation works. To ensure long-term care and high plant establishment, the scheme also incorporates a performance-linked mechanism, wherein additional financial benefits will be granted to the mandals in subsequent years based on the verified survival percentage of the saplings.
This integrated approach not only accelerates ecological restoration across the Dhauladhar foothills but also promotes local community stewardship and sustainable rural livelihoods.
