*CSIR-IHBT Director Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav Leads Delegation to Taiwan for Science Diplomacy”*

“Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director of CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur, and Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Senior Principal Scientist, recently participated in a joint conference organized by the International Association for Asian Traditional Medicine (IAASTAM) and the Asian Society for History of Medicine (ASHM) in Taipei, Taiwan. This conference brought together over 300 esteemed scientists, physicians, historians, traditional medicine experts, and scholars from 29 countries. Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav chaired a session and highlighted expertise and leadership in the field, while Dr. Rakesh Kumar delivered an invited panel talk, showcasing CSIR-IHBT’s research progress and capabilities in the area of Himalayan medicinal plants. They discussed traditional Indian medicine, CSIR-IHBT’s activities, and potential collaborations with Taiwanese institutions. The delegation also visited the National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine (NRICM) in Taipei and explored opportunities for scientific cooperation. During their stay, they met with the Director-General (Indian Ambassador) of the India-Taipei Association (ITA), Shri Manhar Singh Lakshman Bhai Yadav, and discussed potential collaborations between CSIR-IHBT and Taiwanese institutions. Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav expressed that the conference provided a remarkable platform for sharing research and exploring international partnerships, and the discussions with ITA were fruitful. He emphasized that collaborations in herbal drug development, aromatic plant products, essential oils, and floriculture would benefit both India and Taiwan. The visit of CSIR-IHBT representatives to Taipei successfully showcased India’s scientific contributions on a global platform, strengthened global partnerships, and advanced scientific knowledge.”
