In a shocking incident, a first-year student at Bahra University in Waknaghat, Solan, has accused his seniors of ragging and physical assault. The student has filed a complaint with the Kandaghat police station, which has registered an FIR and begun investigating the matter.

According to the complaint, the student was subjected to ragging and physical assault by his seniors, who are in their final year, two days ago. The student alleged that he was taken to his seniors’ room and beaten up. He also claimed that he had been facing harassment from his seniors for several days.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are questioning the accused students. The university administration has come under scrutiny for failing to prevent the incident, despite previous instances of ragging on campus.

SP Solan, Gaurav Singh, confirmed that a complaint had been received and an FIR had been registered. He said that the police were investigating the matter and would take appropriate action against those found guilty.

This incident has once again brought to light the menace of ragging in educational institutions in Himachal Pradesh, despite strict laws and measures in place to prevent it. The incident has sparked outrage among students and parents, who are demanding strict action against the accused and measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

_Is Expelling Three Students Enough?_

The recent incident of ragging at Bahra University in Himachal Pradesh has raised questions about the effectiveness of the action taken by the university administration. While expelling three students may seem like a stern measure, it may not be enough to address the deeper issues that led to this incident.

The Himachal Pradesh government should take cognizance of the university administration’s failure to prevent this incident and take action against them.  Some parent of  fresher students said that mere warning or penalty may not be sufficient; the government should consider taking more stringent measures, such as withdrawing the  university’s any recognition if such incidents recur in the future.

This incident highlights the need for a more robust mechanism to prevent ragging and ensure student safety. The university administration’s inaction and lack of accountability have created an environment that allows such incidents to occur. By taking strong action against the administration, the government can send a clear message that such incidents will not be tolerated.

Furthermore, the government should also consider setting up an independent inquiry into the incident to identify the systemic failures that led to it. This will help identify measures to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure that students feel safe and supported on campus.

In conclusion, expelling three students may be a start, but it is not enough. The government needs to take more comprehensive action to address the root causes of ragging and ensure that university administrations are held accountable for student safety.
