खरड़ शहर में पेयजल आपूर्ति को लेकर एक गंभीर शिकायत सामने आई है। शहर के निवासी अरुण कुमार ने पंजाब के राज्यपाल, मुख्यमंत्री, मुख्य सचिव तथा स्थानीय सरकार विभाग के सचिव को एक विस्तृत शिकायत पत्र भेजकर शहर में दूषित पेयजल आपूर्ति का मुद्दा उठाया है और तत्काल हस्तक्षेप की मांग की है।
शिकायत पत्र के अनुसार, सिविल अस्पताल रोड, खरड़ क्षेत्र में नगर परिषद की पेयजल पाइपलाइन कथित रूप से सीवरेज के पानी में डूबी हुई है। शिकायतकर्ता का आरोप है कि पाइपलाइन में कई स्थानों पर जोड़ (जॉइंट) और लीकेज होने के कारण सीवरेज का पानी पेयजल में मिल सकता है, जिससे हजारों लोगों के स्वास्थ्य पर गंभीर खतरा उत्पन्न होने की आशंका है।
अरुण कुमार ने अपने पत्र में इस स्थिति को जनस्वास्थ्य से जुड़ा अत्यंत गंभीर विषय बताते हुए संबंधित स्थान की तस्वीरें भी संलग्न की हैं। उन्होंने आशंका व्यक्त की है कि यदि समय रहते समस्या का समाधान नहीं किया गया तो जलजनित बीमारियों का खतरा बढ़ सकता है।
शिकायत में उन्होंने सरकार से प्रभावित स्थल का तत्काल निरीक्षण कराने, क्षतिग्रस्त पेयजल पाइपलाइन की मरम्मत अथवा प्रतिस्थापन, सीवरेज और पेयजल लाइनों को पूरी तरह अलग सुनिश्चित करने, पूरे मामले की स्वतंत्र जांच कर जिम्मेदार अधिकारियों की जवाबदेही तय करने तथा शहर के पेयजल की नियमित गुणवत्ता जांच कराने की मांग की है।
फिलहाल इस संबंध में संबंधित सरकारी विभाग की ओर से कोई आधिकारिक प्रतिक्रिया सामने नहीं आई है। यदि प्रशासन इस मामले में अपना पक्ष या कार्रवाई संबंधी जानकारी जारी करता है, तो ट्राई सिटी टाइम्स उसे भी प्रमुखता से प्रकाशित करेगा।

I wish to draw your urgent attention to an extremely serious matter concerning public health and safety in Kharar City. The prevailing situation has left residents feeling helpless and deeply concerned about their well-being.
Water is the most basic necessity for human life. However, the drinking water being supplied in Kharar City is severely contaminated, posing a grave risk to public health. In the main area of the city, particularly on Civil Hospital Road, the Municipal Council’s drinking water pipeline is submerged in sewage water. Moreover, the pipeline has multiple joints and leak points, creating a high likelihood of sewage mixing with the drinking water supply.
I am enclosing photographs of the site, which clearly depict the alarming condition. The continued supply of contaminated water exposes thousands of residents to the risk of water-borne diseases and constitutes a serious threat to human life.
I respectfully request your immediate intervention to:
Order an urgent inspection of the affected site by competent authorities.
Ensure immediate repair or replacement of the damaged drinking water pipeline.
Prevent any contamination of the drinking water supply by separating it from the sewage line.
Initiate an independent inquiry to determine responsibility for this serious lapse and take appropriate action against those found negligent.
Ensure continuous monitoring of the city’s drinking water quality to safeguard public health.
Considering the seriousness of the issue, I request that immediate action be taken to prevent any loss of life or outbreak of disease. The residents of Kharar City look to your esteemed office for prompt and effective intervention.
