Director Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav highlights advances in Himalayan bioresources, agriculture, and health-focused initiatives

Palampur: During a special program at CSIR–Himalayan Bioresource Technology Institute (IHBT), Palampur, Director Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav briefed media representatives on the institute’s key activities, ongoing research, and major achievements. He emphasized that the institute is continuously working towards the conservation of Himalayan bioresources and their scientific utilization.
Dr. Yadav stated that technologies developed at the institute are being effectively applied in agriculture, horticulture, medicinal plants, and aromatic crops, significantly contributing to increasing farmers’ income. He also highlighted that high-quality planting material, including ornamental and medicinal plants developed at the institute, is witnessing growing demand both in India and abroad.
Speaking about future initiatives, Dr. Yadav mentioned that under the “Mission Bharpoor” initiative, the institute is making dedicated efforts to bring about a transformative change in the health sector. This mission focuses on developing nutrient-rich food products using indigenous plant sources and aims to reduce malnutrition. He expressed confidence that the mission will soon achieve impactful results and prove to be a significant step towards improving public health.
On this occasion, journalists were also given a comprehensive tour of the institute. They visited various , greenhouses, nurseries, and research units. Scientists explained plant production processes, innovative technologies, and ongoing research projects in detail. During the visit, media representatives interacted with scientists, gaining deeper insights into the institute’s work and appreciating its significant role in regional development.
