*Charu Sood, the Himachali Girl brings laurel ,being elected as deputy mayor of Elmbridge in England*

Charu Sood, a Himachali Sood girl, has done the an excellent work by winning and retaining her seat again in the Elmbridge Borough Council in England in the recent local elections in May 22.
Earlier she was first elected for the same seat in 2018 and through her hard work and dedication has made a name for herself in the local electoral ward. The win was even special as Charu has been one of the star candidates for the Local Conservatives in Elmbridge and one of the very few people who managed to retain their seats.
Charu is very well known and respectedcommunity leader both within the Council as well as in the local community.
At the Borough, she has served on the planning Committee, Climate advisory board and Licensing Committees. She has also been the Shadow Cabinet Member for Environment and for Community and Social Affairs. Locally, Charu started ‘Weybridge in Bloom’ in 2018 a local community initiative-to encourage civic pride in Weybridge and has organised numerous community events and activities such as litter picking, bulb planting, sunflower competitions, local fayres and cleaning drives etc.
In recognition of her good work, recently she was elected to the post of Deputy Mayor of Elmbridge. She received unanimous cross party support from elected representatives – a testament to her integrity and dedication to the local residents and community.
This is a huge honour and a rare distinction for India in England. Charu Sood belongs to Himachal and being sood girl, Sood Biradari is proud of her achievement, says the presidents of sood Sabha chandigarh , Shimla and Palampur. She has brought laurels to Himachal Pradesh especially for sood Biradari.
Charu says, “It is the support and confidence of myresidents and blessing of my elders that has enabled me to win election with huge majority and get cross party endorsement in the council chamber for the esteemed responsibility to serve as a Deputy Mayor.
I feel honoured and privileged to represent our community and promise to give my all in this term of four years.”she added.
Charu says she fully support the women empowerment and right of equality/ freedom to them.
About Charu, she has roots at Garli and Shimla (Himachal Pradesh). Her father Sh. Shashi Bhushan Sud is a well known person and held various top positions on Sood biradari platform at Sood Sabha Chandigarh and her mother Mrs. Kiran Sud is a home maker.
Charu is married to Mr. Saurabh Sood of Chandigarh son of Mrs. Raka & Virender Sood. First and foremost, Charu is a mother of three school age daughters and supports her husband in his company as a director and is responsible for HR and Recruitment activities.
An active politician and a key member of the local Conservatives organisation in Weybridge, Charu is a member of management committee for Runnymede and Weybridge Conservative Association. Currently, she is also the Chairperson of the Runnymede and Weybridge Conservative Woman Organisation and actively encourages women to participate in public life
