Science Day was organized in the memory of Dr. Chandrashekhar Raman today at Sri Sai University, Palampur. Chief Guest Prof. Ashok Kumar Sarial, Vice Chancellor, in his address said that the discovery of “Raman Effect” was announced on 28 February 1928, which is celebrated as National Science Day.
National Science Day is celebrated every year across the country under the aegies of the National Council of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The program was organized under the leadership of Dr. Ved Prakash Patial, Dean of the Sciences. In the welcome speech, he said that this year the theme of National Science Day is ‘Indigenous Technology for Viksit Bharat’. The department organized various competitions for the students like science based quiz, rangoli, debate on scientific topics and poster presentation. At the conclusion of the program, the chief guest awarded the winners and appreciated the organizing committee members Dr. Deepika, Dr. Ankush, Mrs. Shivani, Dr. Pooja and Dr. Anjana Negi for successfull organisation of the program. On this occasion, Pro VC Prof. N.N. Sharma, Dean, Dr RPP Singh, Dr RK Sharma, all the heads of departments, professors, students and non-teaching staff were present.
