Rajesh Dharmani as I knew him….A dedicated honest and humble boy!Professor Saroj Thakur

I remember him sitting attentively in my class. A very fair complexioned young boy of eighteen years of age. Like all other boys of his class of Civil Engineering, he, too, dreamt of construction…the very basis of Civil Engineering. But he was different from the very beginning. The first ever public demonstration of raising voice against administration was his. I remember him sitting on Dharna….something which any professional student would be afraid of doing! But that is what made Rajesh Dharmani different… he was more into building human relations and working for fellow human beings!

When the semester was over…he, along with Navkirti, walked to me and both handed me a paper with a poem written on it. I lost it or perhaps still is there in one of my books but the lines are imprinted in my heart which were, “We felt like humans in your class….” I was deeply touched! Even today I have moist eyes thinking of that moment!

Nothing has changed in these, almost more than thirty years!

Today, when my husband read aloud to me about news item about Rajesh Dharmani…only having not more than a crore rupees in his account…and not having been included in Himachal Cabinet…I am sad! His non-inclusion in the cabinet is not his loss, it is our loss…loss of the public! But my heart cries out….like so many others….and this post is my love for him…open at a public platform! We love you Rajesh Dharmani!!!
