Shopian/Pulwama, 3.06.2026: In a significant community outreach initiative, noted Rheumatologist Dr. Anshul Goel organized specialized medical camps in the remote villages of Shopian and Pulwama districts in South Kashmir. The camps were conducted in close association with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), bringing essential rheumatology care to the doorsteps of rural communities who often face limited access to specialist healthcare.

During the multi-day initiative, Dr. Goel and his team screened local residents for arthritis, autoimmune disorders, musculoskeletal conditions, and other rheumatic diseases. Elderly villagers, many suffering from chronic joint pain and mobility issues, were provided free consultations, diagnoses, and critical follow-up advice.

Training CRPF Personnel for “Handicap Medical Emergencies”

In addition to the public camps, Dr. Anshul Goel held a specialized lecture-cum-training session for CRPF personnel deployed in the region. The session focused on the identification and initial management of “handicap medical emergencies” — acute medical crises in individuals with pre-existing physical disabilities, such as immobility-related complications, autonomic dysreflexia, or falls.

Dr. Goel trained the security forces on rapid assessment techniques, safe handling and evacuation protocols for persons with disabilities, and first-responder interventions to prevent secondary injuries. The initiative aims to bridge a critical gap in emergency response, ensuring that persons with disabilities receive appropriate, dignified care during law enforcement or disaster operations.

Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Anshul Goel stated, “Serving the underserved in high-altitude and conflict-affected zones is a priority. By training the CRPF, we are creating a force multiplier—enabling first responders to save lives not just in combat, but in compassionate, medical emergencies.”

A senior CRPF officer present at the training thanked Dr. Goel, adding that the program would enhance operational preparedness and humanitarian response capabilities in the Union Territory.
